Pictured Above: Jena Schnurle, owner and founder of Simply Flawless Skin & Beauty, LLC., and one of her salon clients. Jena’s beauty salon recently relocated this month to 14090 Fryelands Blvd, Suite 102, Monroe, WA 98272. (Previous address: 125 E Main St. Suite 203 Monroe WA, 98272.)

Nestled in the small suburb of Monroe, WA, Simply Flawless is a skin and beauty spa that offers clients small town charm with big town services. As their website says, they want you to “walk away feeling like you’ve had top-level pampering and genuine care.”

Mosaic Insurance Alliance, LLC. has had the pleasure of providing Jena Schnurle, the owner and founder of Simply Flawless, with her commercial insurance needs since 2019. Mosaic’s Commercial Account Manager, Karen Moehrle, has been working closely with Jena over the last few years, and has had the opportunity to get to know Simply Flawless’ spa business services inside and out, as well as their career goals and determination to provide professional client experiences.

Are you interested in learning more about beauty services? Or, are you in the spa industry yourself and you are looking for some business inspiration? Our Marketing Manager, Meagan Baron, chatted with Jena recently, getting the inside scoop on what it means to be a spa owner in today’s world. Read on for quotes about owning a permanent makeup business, beauty tips, education on different beauty styles and maintenance, and a scrapbook of pictures, all courtesy of Jena!

What is Simply Flawless All About?

In addition to providing beauty services like permanent eyeliner, lip blushing, lash extensions, lash lifts, plasma skin tightening, microblading, powder brow, facials, skin care, waxing, and sugaring (see images at the end), Simply Flawless is about providing a memorable experience that customers will want to repeat again and again. Simply put, it is about feeling good.

“We value our clients,” said Jena, “and want them to leave feeling like family.”

Feeling like family is right. After all, most of Simply Flawless’ clients were referred to them by happy customers. “This is what makes small businesses the lifeblood of our community,” Jena said in one of her Instagram posts. “You trusted me with your beautiful face and then you told your mom, your sister, your friends, your co-worker, your college roommate, your hairstylist, your dry-cleaning lady, that they can trust me too. I cannot say thank you enough. I’m so grateful for you and your support.”

Simply Flawless’ family atmosphere is evident not solely because of the existence of referrals. Their shop has a homely feel to it. They transformed a charming brick building into a home at their previous location on Main Street in Monroe, WA, and they plan to do the same thing to their new location at Monroe’s Fryelands Boulevard. Inside it awaits a clean and decorated layout with inspirational paintings on the walls, goody bags of various beauty products to take home, homemade bath bombs to complete your day after your appointment, and more.

Also, it is about a customized experience. Some big corporations might say “What is the point in small talk? It is about getting the job done and moving onto the next appointment, right?” Wrong—if you want your services to have a higher chance of making a positive and memorable impact, that is. Personalization and socialization are especially important for companies who are designed to provide customers with relaxation.

“Let’s talk about purpose,” commented Jena in another one of her Instagram posts. “As a permanent makeup artist, I spend my day-to-day designing bomb brows. But at the end of the day? My big WHY is to give my clients luxury pampering so they can just get a break from day-to-day life. It’s more than just getting new brows. It’s forming new friendships and getting to chat for a few hours. It’s what gets me up in the morning, and it drives me to constantly improve. At the end of the day, I want to be more than just another artist. I want to be your artist. And I believe my WHY sets me apart from everyone else.”

Q: Tell Me More About Your Services

Simply Flawless’ dream team consists of three professionals—Jena, and her two employees, Emily and Mandy.

Their most popular service is microblading, a semi-permanent tattoo-like procedure that results in the appearance of fine, crisp, natural looking hair strokes. Microblading tends to last 1-2 years.

Another popular service that Simply Flawless provides is called powder brows, which is similar to microblading. With powder brows, you are also getting a semi-permanent tattoo service, but the ending style is different. There is shading being created behind the whole brow, which creates a soft shadow effect as if you filled in your brows with brow powder. They also have a combo service that does a little bit of both microblading and powder brow.

“My favorite service that we do is powder brows. It’s very artistic and has coloring on a larger scale,” Jena commented.

Semi-permanent makeup has been on the rise over the years, and its popularity doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Keeping up on the latest trends is one of Jena’s missions, as is providing better treatments for her clients. Like any successful business owner, she has a passion for learning, and she is always looking for new ways to advance her skill levels. If there is a new training that she thinks will be helpful to her clientele, she jumps right on it with enthusiasm.

Enthusiasm that is plain to see if you step into her salon. “We have a wall of certifications in the office,” said Jena. With 20 beauty certifications and counting, that is a sight to see!

Q: What Got You Interested in the Spa Industry?

“One time, I went on a vacation and got my very first facial,” said Jena, “and I fell in love. I thought it was the coolest thing and she cleared up my skin after years of bad acne. I wanted to give that gift to other women and decided to become and esthetician.”

As the saying goes, “The best gifts come from the heart.” Jena has been helping women (and men) achieve the gift of relaxation and self-confidence since 2017. In that time, she has maintained a solid 5-star rating online, both for Google and Facebook! She has 65 reviews and counting.

And the gift return just keeps coming for Simply Flawless. Now, you might be thinking—Returning gifts are usually a bad thing, right? After all, it tends to mean that the gift opener is not satisfied with their surprise, and they are now waiting in the customer service line to get money or an exchange. Well, for a salon, the concept takes on an entirely different meaning. Returning—or repeating—gifts means that you have one satisfied customer.

“Return clients and new clients are about 50/50,” said Jena. “Permanent makeup is usually for a new client, and then they return for services like lashes and facials.”

Bottom line? Feeling beautiful and simply flawless—as Kodak likes to say—is the gift that keeps on giving.

Q: What Do You Love About Being a Business Owner?

If you own a company, then you have probably created a bucket list or two since you opened your doors. For Jena, owning a spa has led to many opportunities that she wouldn’t change for the world.

If you are in the spa industry, then you also know how location and space are a precious thing. Do you remember when you first moved into your building, or when you did your first expansion? Jena sure does. In fact, when asked about her favorite memory since owning her business, Jena chortled “Getting the keys to our new dream location!”

What else is exciting about spa ownership for Jena other than getting the keys to her new place? Well, it is important to do what you love and call it your job. When she was asked to pick just 5 things she loved about owning her spa, she said:

1. Freedom of time

2. Freedom of money

3. Having clients become friends

4. Having employees that are friends

5. Having the time to spend with my kids

Do We Also Handle Your Commercial Insurance?

The Mosaic Team always loves to hear about the life of a business owner. Each business is different, and thus, each owner has a new perspective to bring to their industry.

If you are a Mosaic Insurance commercial client, we would love to hear from you! Helping you get noticed is one of the things that puts a huge smile on our faces. Let us help you spread awareness about your business one social media post at a time. To get your own blog post feature like Jena’s here, and a mention in one of our newsletters/postcards, reach out to Meagan Baron, our Marketing Manager. We look forward to talking about you on our website, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest!

If you would like to become a commercial insurance client, give us a call! We would love to talk to you about your business and your commercial insurance needs. We can be reached by phone at 425-320-4280, and email at commercial@mosaicia.com. You can also send us an IM via the chat feature in the bottom right corner of your screen. Our hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 5 PM Pacific. We also write insurance in different states. Ask us if we do business in yours!

What can we offer you that other insurance agencies might not be able to?

  • If you do not work with an independent agency, and instead go directly to a carrier for your insurance needs, then Mosaic can offer you the brokerage advantage that you are currently not getting. We have access to various carriers at competitive prices, including some of the top ones in the United States. We also assign you to your very own agent—no more dealing with option menus, updating a new person on your situation each time you call, or sitting on hold. Additionally, we work for you, not the insurance companies, so you will have someone in your corner to answer questions and provide advice on different service options. Being an insurance broker, we also have other perks, like this one mentioned on our Instagram.
  • As we mentioned, every company is different. If you currently work with another independent agency, you might find some differences between them and us. For example, we may have different carriers than the ones they can write with. We might also have been in business longer (since 2010); write in different states; provide different insurance policies for personal and commercial needs (including cannabis business insurance); and/or have received completely different reviews from clients, like the one you see from Jena below.
