What’s on the referral program drawing board?

Welcome to our chalk talk for last quarter! Mosaic Insurance Alliance enjoyed generating community posts, sharing excitement in disability problem solving, reflecting on unique abilities that every induvial has, and so much more for the first quarter of 2022. The first three months of the new year with Sherwood Community Services taught Mosaic new ways to make connections—and, if you know Mosaic, then you know that being “stronger…together” is what we are all about. (Just look at our logo!)

The Mosaic Family wants to give a BIG thank you to the Sherwood Family for giving us the chance to work with them from January 1-March 31, 2022. Also, a HUGE thank you goes out to all of our clients and followers who shared Mosaic’s insurance services and got people excited to do a free insurance quote with us. In those three months, all you wonderful people out there brought us $10 further to our goal when you referred your parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, neighbors, best friends, favorite local diner owners, barbers, and the other special people in your lives. We enjoyed chatting with your loved ones about how we could help their personal insurance and/or business insurance needs.

We are also ecstatic over the love that came flowing in over the social media posts on our various platforms—every time you shared, liked, or commented on a post or picture, you helped spread awareness for Sherwood’s amazing community cause.

What Sherwood Brings to the Board

In case you just stumbled upon our blog and are learning about Mosaic’s referral program for the first time, Sherwood is a local nonprofit that helps children and adults with disabilities get life-changing services. For instance, their vocational program helps high school graduates and adults find stable employment, and their early intervention team helps infants and toddlers who are experiencing delays receive important therapy and tools for development.

The 90 days with Sherwood flew by. We enjoyed getting to know the Sherwood team as well as learning more about disabilities and how we can apply ability-focus in our daily routine.

We particularly loved reading the blog posts that they came up with. Their blogs were always highlighting new ways that you can learn how to connect and engage with your kids and grandkids. Take a look at their blog, and you will see all kinds of things like:

Also, if you are looking for some more early intervention resources for your baby or toddler, in addition to reading the blogs you can check out their early intervention program for kids up to age 3.

And, the Sherwood team doesn’t stop at fun and games with the little ones. Their vocational services help teenagers and adults discover their carrier interests, strengths, and goals and apply said items when filling out work applications and starting their new job. Helping individuals with disabilities who are 16 years and older find jobs that they love at competitive wages is a valuable experience for not only Sherwood and the person that they are helping, but the community as a whole. Economic independence helps further community integration and gives everyone a refreshing reminder of how amazing healthy self-worth is for everyone.

What Will They Draw Up Next? Stay Connected & Find Out!

One of the things that Mosaic absolutely loves about nonprofits is their ability to express creativity and the new ways that they find to spread their mission for a better tomorrow. We have no doubt in our minds that Sherwood will come up with some more engaging blog posts that can help parents and teenagers alike, new inspirational quotes posted on social media to help you get through your day, additional programs to help individuals with disabilities, and more.

Work Opportunities Await Us from April 1-June 30!

Our next Washington charity of the quarter is Work Opportunities located in Lynnwood, Everett, and Bellingham. Like Sherwood, they too provide vocational program services. Since 1963, it has been their dream to help people with disabilities become active members in the community through work, truly believing that work means so much more than just a paycheck. We are very much looking forward to the opportunity to continue helping nurture the career environment and expand towards a united employee dynamic! As our first Work Opportunities post here shows, believing in abilities—and not focusing on disabilities—is important.

Being founded by a group of parents from Edmonds, WA, Work Opportunities has had a simple, yet powerful, mission from the very beginning. The parents were a part of the Edmonds School District Special Education Parents Group, and it was their dream that all persons with disabilities would become participating members of the community, contributing to the growth and nurture of the local neighborhoods like so many others do.

You might enjoy seeing pictures of when they were first getting started—we know that we sure did! And, when you fast-forward to today, you can see that their dream is still going strong by looking at all the newer pictures on their Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The pictures will also not end there. Mosaic will be creating some more Work Opportunities graphics for you to look through on a weekly basis! So, stay tuned for more fun, educational, and engaging graphics.
